Coastal Kiss
1 oz amaretto
1 oz Southern Comfort®
2 oz pineapple juice

Mix in blender with ice until smooth. Serve in your favorite fancy glass.

Drink Recipe: Gin Delicious

Gin Delicious

Portland, Oregon-based McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurtants offers this drink on its
"History Of The American Cocktail" menu.

3 sprigs fresh mint
1/2 oz simple syrup
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz Beefeater® gin
Splash of soda

Add two mint sprigs, simple syrup, and lime juice to a shaker. Lightly bruise with a muddler. Add gin and fill with ice, shaking vigorously for five seconds. Strain into a martini glass with a sugar rim. Garnish with remaining mint sprig.

The Customer Might Always Be Right, But She Might Also Be A Douchebag

Saturday night in Flagler Beach. Woohoo! I had an odd experience last night, wanna hear about it?

A grim looking middle aged lady came stomping up to the bar carrying a bucket of beer and slammed it down in front of me. "Why would you open all the beers in a bucket going out to a table of two?" I wasn't on service bar, but I would have opened them too. I cheerfully replied "Well, we open the beers so you don't have to. We don't really know from here how many people are drinking from the bucket." I really didn't know what to say other than "Would you like a fresh bucket?". She did and I proceeded to grab 4 more beers and began scooping in the ice. As I was doing this, the GM came up to the bar (probably because the server told him there was an issue). I heard her saying something about "I thought it was a health code violation to serve open beers to a table, at least it was when I was working." I handed her a fresh bucket of UNOPENED beers and bid her farewell with a smile. I then said under my breath "I hope you cut your fucking hand opening them, you old hag". I then looked at my boss and said "What the hell?". I learned later that he wasn't finished hearing from her, she was complaining about the bucket sweating all over her table, etc. I pride myself on customer service "saves", but some people are just impossible to please. I only wish she had been drinking beer with pry-off lids, so she would have had to come back up and ask me to help her open them.

So we were talking about it later among ourselves and had a few opinions about the whole ordeal. Was she right? Should we serve the beers unopened? One server said she understood it to be against the law to serve them WITHOUT opening them, because then we are acting as a package store. Interesting point. We wouldn't just hand someone a bottle of wine and say "Emjoy!" I guess the lady's point of argument is that the beers weren't opened in front of her. But, had she ordered a gin & tonic, I wouldn't walk out to the table and pour the drink in front of her.

So I chalk it up to douchebaggery.

Opinions? If you order a bucket of beer, would you prefer the beers to be opened or unopened?

COLORADO SPRINGS -- Talk about a bad day. A pregnant woman not only was chased down by a brown bear, but got hit by a car in her attempt to get away.

It happened Thursday morning on a trail in Colorado Springs near woodman road and Vincent Drive.

On the trail, there are warnings about possible flash flooding. But nothing prepared a pregnant Ashley Swendsen for a dangerous encounter with wildlife.

"I heard a rustle. I looked behind me and it was a bear--2 feet away," says Swendsen, who is 6 months pregnant.

The 26-year-old kept on walking, and then noticed the bear was following her.

"I freaked out and start running. It was chasing me for about 20 seconds," she says.

She made it to the street. But her troubles were far from over.

"This lady hit me with her car. She wasn't going that fast. I just rolled off her car," she says.

An elderly woman hit her from behind then took off.

The female bear also took off. Officers later tracked it down about a mile away and tranquilized it near some homes.

"If it is the one and Division of Wildlife policy is any aggressive bears do have to be euthanized," says an unidentified division of wildlife officer.

It turned out to be the bear. Its fate decided, the DOW had no choice but to kill it.

"Bears not afraid of people are the most dangerous because they don't run away," says DOW spokesman Michael Seraphin.

"It's still sad. It spared me and it still has to die," says Swendsen.
But she says she'll remember the bear in her own way.

"We're going to name the middle name of our baby, 'bear.'"

Police are looking for the woman who hit Swendsen for possible hit-and-run charges.

She is white, in her seventies and was driving a black 4-door sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi. It's unknown if there is any damage to the car.

Repost: Swine flu epidemic fear grows, world on alert

I'm not really on alert, but I thought I would repost the article. Yes 81 people have died in Mexico City. Tragic? Maybe. Do you realize that the population of Mexico City is almost 9 million? Greater Mexico City has around 22 million people, the largest metropolitan area in the western hemisphere. 22 MILLION!!! .00004% of the population has died from swine flu. That news isn't enough to keep me from leaving my house. I'm no trying to be insensitive here, but if you have 22 million people crammed into a city that is gradually sinking into the soft clay on which it was originially built, it might be time to cull some of the population.

Of course, as my customer NY Jon would say, it might just be the government trying to keep the people in fear....

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Governments around the world rushed on Sunday to check the spread of a new type of swine flu that has killed up to 81 people in Mexico and infected around a dozen in the United States.

Mexicans huddled in their homes while U.S. hospitals tracked patients with flu symptoms and other countries imposed health checks at airports as the World Health Organization warned the virus had the potential to become a pandemic.

The epidemic has snowballed into a monster headache for Mexico, already grappling with a violent drug war and economic slowdown, and has quickly become one of the biggest global health scares in years...

My Apolgies To My Facebook Friends!

I added the new Facebook 1.5 app to my blackberry. It has a cool feature by which I can connect my facebook contacts to my blackberry contacts. So, say I have your number in my phone, it will pull your picture, birthday, etc from your facebook profile. Here's where the problem is...if I have your number, but you don't have it listed on facebook, you will receive a phone number request from me. I am very sorry...i didn't realize this would happen.

Simple Earth Day Cocktails

After a couple of queries, I decided to post a couple simple Earth Day cocktails.

Green-Tini
1.5 oz vodka
1 oz melon liqueur

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Or serve on the rocks.

Ice Cap
1.5 oz vodka
1 oz peppermint schnapps

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Or serve on the rocks.

Ocean Blue
1 oz Bacardi
½ oz blue curacao
¼ oz triple sec

Stir with ice & strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Easy like a cake, upside down!

Drink Recipe: Conch Shell

Simple, yet delicious!

Conch Shell

4 oz white rum
2 tsp. fresh lime juice

Shake with ice then strain over new ice in a rocks glass or tumbler.

Drink Recipe: Banana Barbados

Banana Barbados

3/4 oz Mount Gay® Eclipse rum
3/4 oz Myers's® Jamaican rum
1/2 oz creme de banana
splash of sour mix
2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Blend all ingredients until smooth and pour into a hurricane glass or wine goblet. Add an extra scoop of ice cream if desired. Float a dash of Myers's on top. Enjoy!!

Captain Morgan Cooler

1 oz Captain Morgan® spice rum
2 oz pineapple juice
splash of cherry juice

Blend with ice and pour into a large cocktail glass or goblet.

Captain Cook

1 oz light rum
1/4 oz Grand Marnier©
splash pineapple juice

Combine with ice & stir. Cherry garnish if desired.
