Classic Cocktails: The Manhattan

The Manhattan
The classic recipe, as interpreted by David Embury:

1 part Italian vermouth
5 parts bonded whiskey
1 dash Angostura bitters

Stir well over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a maraschino cherry garnish.

My recipe:
2 oz whiskey
3/4 oz sweet vermouth

Stir well over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a maraschino cherry garnish.

*Can also be strained over fresh rocks. Some customers ask for cherry juice. Some ask for bourbon. Some call their whiskey. My favorite Manhattan drinker, Ned, likes his on the rock with Canadian Club. *
